Is mindset important for success? Well, in this interview we ask none other than the amazing Rylee Bogden, the mindset coach behind world-leading Forex Education company ASFX. Here we take a sneak-peak into her mind and learn more about what she does and how she’s been able to help dozens of traders take their trading to the next level.
So Rylee, what is your main role at ASFX?
Rylee: Initially, I wore many hats as most entrepreneurs do when starting a business. I was mainly focused on all things marketing, where I was always thinking in the eyes of the trader/consumer. As ASFX progressed, Austin and I were noticing that traders were lacking in the psychological area of trading. I have studied psychology for several years, and I was already coaching Austin with his own trading, so we thought maybe I could coach other traders as well. I put myself up for free, offering any trader who wanted assistance with their mindset to schedule a private call with me. Very quickly traders started seeing progress after working with me which led more traders to schedule calls with me, so naturally I became known as the Mindset Coach within the ASFX community.
What made you interested in becoming a mindset coach?
Rylee: I’ve always been fascinated by the human psyche and how it impacts our day to day lives. As I mentioned earlier, becoming a mindset coach occurred naturally and seeing the positive impacts I’ve had on these traders continues to motivate me. As a trader it’s extremely beneficial to understand your habitual tendencies and emotional reactions on and off the charts so you can perform to the best of your ability.
How big a part does mindset play when it comes to trading?
Rylee: Your mindset is a HUGE piece of trading. How a trader shows up to the charts is likely the same way that person shows up for things in their personal life as well. For example, traders who are very impatient, quick to get triggered or very hot headed are going to notice this in their trades – particularly when being impatient with trades and always wanting to be right. Essentially their trading habits will be a reflection of their own personality. In order to be a successful trader you have to master your own psyche so you can trade level-headed with full awareness instead of making emotional decisions.
What is a common myth about your work and how do you debunk it?
Rylee: People think that if they have an abundance of knowledge about mindset, that it’s instantly going to change something in their life. Simply knowing the information is not going to create a change. You must implement action behind the information that you’re learning. All of the knowledge means nothing until you go out and apply it. You could learn all the mindset hacks and tips when it comes to trading, but if you don’t actively apply it, your results will never change.
Do you believe success comes down to your mindset?
Rylee: Yes, but I do think there have been people who had the right idea at the right time and they became super successful because of it without necessarily having the best mindset. In saying that, I do believe your reality of success will be altered tremendously if you have an awakened mindset – if you’re aware of what goes on in your mind, you can be aware more about what success looks like to you versus the next person.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a similar career?
Rylee: Never stop learning and always be open minded to new information. The world and humans are constantly changing so you have to be observant and learn how to adapt to best serve the coachee. For example with it now being only online meetings versus in person, being able to adapt to things like this are key, particularly in building rapport virtually and making the others feel comfortable during your session. I would also say to always remember that we are all humans alongside one another. Just because you are the coach does not mean you are above them in any way – you are there to walk next to them and guide them with the knowledge and expertise that you have.
