They say you should never meet your heroes, but actress Kate Katzman has found this isn’t true. Throughout her career as an actress, she has met legendary actors and has grown as a performer.
Kate worked with Robert De Niro in the upcoming film The Comeback Trail, in which she plays a female movie director alongside other performers like Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones, and Zach Braff. The Comeback Trail is a comedy remake of a film from the 80s with the same name.
On her first day of filming, she had to sit at a desk opposite Robert De Niro. She was understandably nervous. As she started to get ready for the shoot in her trailer, she found a note that said, “Break a leg. – Bob.” This special message helped her get through the scene. She also says that De Niro is a “nice guy, much more mannerly and soft-spoken than his movie image.”
This is far from Kate Katzman’s first brush with legendary Hollywood stars. She was a student in the late Burt Reynolds’ master acting class at his school in Jupiter, FL, which only had 20 students. She says Burt was a very encouraging teacher, and he treated his students like family. He would invite them over for dinner on Friday nights and tell them funny stories about Marilyn Monroe, Clint Eastwood, and other stars.
“He was my mentor and my acting angel, always encouraging me,” Kate said. “Burt Reynolds is the number one reason I am acting today,” Katzman said.
Katzman has several other projects slated for a 2020 release. She stars in the thriller film Adverse with Mickey Rourke and Lou Diamond Phillips as Chloe. The coming of age comedy This Is the Year releases in 2020 and features Kate in the role of Sofia. And for the Christmas season, Katzman starred as an elf in Santa in Training (2019).
Kate Katzman has learned a great deal from the fantastic Hollywood stars she’s worked with. She’s excited to book movies with more legendary actors and let her voice be heard.
