Sometimes in life, you must unlearn everything you’ve ever been taught and start from scratch. As the media and marketing companies roll out the newest health fad like fake meat, vegan diets, and less sun exposure, our society seems to be dying a slow and painful death. Shelby Streit a nutrition and food expert went down the rabbit hole to find out how to change your generational health and why it matters.
“It’s tough to be the one alone sounding the alarms,” said Streit but once she learned about the dangers that were entering our bodies daily WITH our consent, she couldn’t follow along anymore.
Streit knows all too well how easy it is to fall victim to society’s conventional wisdom. “I was vegetarian for a few years and even took birth control for 6 years. I thought that if I just found labels that said ‘organic or healthy, I would be in the clear. I mean Wholefoods is the epitome of health, right? Wrong.” During her young adult life, she built more than one successful real estate company and knows how much time entrepreneurs take to create generational wealth. But without health can you enjoy the wealth through Streit? As she and her husband were enjoying the fruits of their labor it didn’t come without a cost.
“A few years ago, my husband was a big guy with back issues and chronic stress. And even though I looked ‘healthy’ I struggled with extreme anxiety and hormone issues.” It wasn’t until Shelby realized she was having trouble conceiving was when she needed to make a change. “Wanting to get pregnant was a huge reason but what I realized the more I learned was it wasn’t just about getting pregnant it was about passing down healthy genes and knowing/teaching healthy habits.” When Shelby started her health journey she didn’t know where to find what she was looking for. She opens up that her childhood was less than ideal so she couldn’t go looking for “grandma’s recipes” or “home remedy’s”. She looked to experts, influencers, doctors, bloggers, vloggers, but it seemed that nothing was in one spot. Everyone seems to be an “expert” in one area shared Streit. Not only that but she dug even deeper wanting to know the why behind everything. She dug into where the food comes from, where/why the water is poisoned and became an expert on food labels and what she was going to do about all of it.
She thought the easiest thing for someone who wanted to have a healthy lifestyle would be to have everything in one place via a website, page, or course. “I’m putting together something really special for those who know or want to make a change but don’t know where to start.” When asked 3 health tips to share with us today Streit said “Don’t be embarrassed to change your life. Start with one area food/cleaning products/water/workouts.
If you splurge on anything – don’t get your meat from the grocery store, ever, there is plenty of regenerative farms that will ship. 2022 is a big year for Shelby Streit she’ll have her first published cookbook, will be graduating from school as a licensed functional medicine practitioner, and putting together a course.
